Google Plus - The War With Facebook begins
Social Networking – A Quick look
With the rapid rate of technology upgrades and demand of users growing each day, you witness an emergence of a new player in any given industry frequently. Is social networking an excuse to this? Definitely not! Social Networking is a medium through which everyone exchanges their information (social media) whether it is private or public, using various forms of technology that span from mobile technology to the widespread Internet technology. Primarily the social media information is shared through the social networking websites. The most popular names that are dominating the world today are social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, etc…The recent addition to this list of social networking site is Google+. When there are already too many social networking sites in existence, what is the difference in Google+? In fact many people have raised a question – Will Google+ survive?
Necessity is the mother of Invention
Did you ever realize when Facebook was rolled out that there will be a huge response to it across the world? In fact for many years after their launch, they have dominated the world in terms of social networking. Eventually every invention comes out of a necessity and also out of a competition. Google+ is a result of the same. Google+ was launched on June 28th 2011 as a social network operated by Google Inc. Will Google+ survive? This would have been the question within the other social networks when Google+ was launched. Google+ was invented because of the differentiator factor it wanted to provide to the public from other social networking sites. Google has already got its combination of services running in various forms. They thought that they should do these services better, as well create an impact on SEO and the way communication happens online. These gave birth to a new social networking called “Google+”.
Survival of the Fittest
Any idea invented should survive otherwise there is no point in inventing it. Google+ team would have already thought about their greatest challenge – competing against the well known social networking sites like Facebook, Myspace, etc… That is where the think tank of Google+ had brought in the differentiator factor. Google+ had brought in the following services in place;
• Cirlces – Allows you to organize subsets that are available within your social group. You group your contacts based on friends, family, colleagues, etc…
• Sparks: Based on your area of interest or topic, this feature allows you to automatically retrieve content and post it as a separate page along with related links, photos, videos etc. You can easily use this like your Google reader. You can even edit photos using the image editor provided in Google+.
• Huddles: Once you create Circles, you can initiate the Group messaging services for people within your circles using Huddles. You also have a mobile app available for Android, which will support you to send messages even from your mobile phone
• Hangouts: Similar to Huddles, you can create your own virtual rooms for video chat for people in your circles using the Hangouts. Is this not a nice way of making your friends aware that you are already on a Hangout with others in a video chat.
Conclusion:
Did you know that Google+ had a whopping 20 million users joining within three weeks of its launch. Many users are joining Google+ for its suite of services and the user community is increasing so rapidly every day. Will Google+ survive – Is there a question still in your mind?
